STRUTTIN’ WITH THE ROOSTERS - PROJECT
This project was done for the community of Gainesville as a way to bring recognition to its artists, and to join other communities in the national animals on parade phenomenon.
What more natural icon for Gainesville than a rooster. Gainesville is known as the “poultry capital of the world” and these painted roosters will offer the Gainesville community something to “crow” about.
Each sculpture has been paid for by an individual or corporate sponsor and is a unique creation showcasing the talents of local artists. Phoenix Society members state that this project is an art exhibit. The goal of our project was to install in the citizens of Gainesville a deeper love and appreciation for art. Our goal is make the roosters a permanent public art display around the downtown square, in the parks and other areas around town.
We feel the roosters will give people one more reason to visit Gainesville and experience all our wonderful city has to offer. The rooster art exhibit not only highlights local artists and the masterpieces they have created, but will also benefit local charities.
